Go Back

   Dari ,

Just so you know, Last is wonderful.  I love him very dearly.  And, again, he is following the diet you prescribed and he is absolutely magnificent -- clear eyes, beautiful coat.  He's just, well, magnificent.  As time goes by, he becomes more mature and protective (not vicious).

Last weekend we went to a remote area in the Shawnee National Forest.  Mixture of big rock formations and forest trails.  There was no one else around.  I did not see another human soul.  I figured (amateur hiker), that as long as I stayed on the trail, and backtracked the way that I came in, that finding my way back to where I parked my car, no problem.

Well, on the way back, I diverted from the trail to watch the eagles.  I started back, but took the wrong trail.  Last led the way the whole time when we first started out, but on the way back, he trailed behind me -- he was antsy and kept trying to divert me.  After (luckily) only about 10 minutes down the wrong path, he just would not follow me.  He ran up to the treeline and just stood there, waiting for me to come to him.  He was at the entrance to the path that led back to my car.

What a man.  He is my hero.

Later -

Thank you for taking such pains to match me with the right dog.
